I decided to start blogging a little after I had my daughter SJ (her sobriquet for Savannah Joi, so feel free to call her SJ). Well, she is now one year old, and let’s just say that this thing called motherhood delayed me tremendously. Blame it on Mommy Life right? That’s always a great excuse. But I’m here though, and thank God I AM HERE! I love to say that every accomplishment begins with the decision to just start. Now back to what I was saying, motherhood changed my life for the better, in a way that I never would have imagined. It gave me a new focus on life, a change that I needed so desperately, but most importantly it gave me a sense of self.
Baby Joi inspired this blog; here you will find everything about SJ from her sweet style, to her newest milestones and mommy reviews on our favorite baby products. You will also get a snippet of lifestyle, beauty and travel. We will also get personal on some occasions as I explore being open and sharing my opinions.
A little bit about my daughter, SJ is the happiest baby I have ever seen, she literally wakes up with a smile on her face instantly. She is very smart, independent, and explorative, on the go, go, go just like her daddy. She came into this world on October 10, 2015 at 7 pounds, 11 ounces, full head of hair with freckles and all via an unexpected cesarean section, but that’s for another blog entry. Savannah Joi Is my “Joie de Vivre” an expression in the French language used to describe a feeling of exuberant enjoyment of life, hence where I got her name. Her daddy picked Savannah; we put it together and ladies and gentlemen MAGIC! The cutest name in the whole wide world, and I say that as humbly as possible. I just love my daughter’s name.
If I had to describe myself with the help of my besties, I would say that I am loyal, fun, loving, sagacious, brutally honest, kind, considerate, passionate, brave, classy, God fearing, reliable and most importantly beautiful! I enjoy shopping and dressing to impress. I’m totally obsessed with shoes, handbags, skin care products and make-up.
My family and friends are my universe and I seriously appreciate a good girls vacation and brunch. I’m guilty of watching reality television but I also love to read a good book, so I guess that balances out. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and I am currently working as a nurse for a nonprofit organization, here in Houston, TX. My job involves me working with immigrants and refugees from poverty struck countries, and families escaping wars in their country. I get to be one of the first to welcome these families from all over the world to this great city, Houston, Texas. I’m a part of something big and never realized how my efforts could fuel a movement and make real change for something so great and I totally love that!
Well I hope you learned a little about SJ and I, make yourself comfortable and I hope my blog can inspire you just as my daughter has done for me. I look forward to us getting to know each other! I’m ecstatic and I hope you are too!
